This Fall Micro Wedding at Wavering Place is Giving us All the Pretty Thanksgiving Vibes
It’s fall, ya’ll and this micro wedding at Wavering Place is hittin’ us right in the feels with the most incredible fall hues. No creative stone was left unturned with breathtaking designs by Willow & Oak Events that focus on our favorite things about fall: fuzzy sweaters, cozy settings, and mulled wine with friends. From the bold crimson reds and burnt orange hues in the bridal bouquet to the sage green tux we’re all swept up in the beauty of this intimate wedding in South Carolina. Without further ado, soak in the wonder of these photos by Brian D Smith Photography.
From the stylist, Willow & Oak Events: When crafting the design elements in this runaway elopement story, we sought to capture a feeling of abandon. Young love meets wild terrain in this autumnal love story overflowing with spirit. From the berry-ink scribbled paper goods to the candle illuminated charcuterie boards, we wanted to showcase the beauty of nature, family and the in-between moments.
Brian D Smith Photography has a serious knack for film photography, and the way he captures light and motion in every frame has us totally smitten. Sun-kissed wedding photos for days! Complementing the natural glow are some epic blooms by Philo Floral. Unique petals in a daring color combo were skillfully bound into a wild bouquet as if the bride had gathered them herself that morning. Naturally we’re gravitating towards the ceremony arch too, which mimics the natural ease + flow of the forest in fall.
We wanted to highlight the innocent, hopeful spirit of our young bride, and Contours + Curls gave her the most compelling look with berry-kissed lips and a wispy coiffured updo. The way the light catches her in every frame is magic!
It was love at first sight when we first met Wavering Place, a historic wedding venue built as a home in the late 1700s. From the chicken-stamped flooring to the antique furniture to the crawl-through windows, cultured lives are cultivated here. We knew it would be the perfect setting for this runaway style elopement, complete with its lush vegetation and secret corners.
The paper goods from Little North Company were inspired by impulse. Love stories scribbled into petite notebooks sat at each place setting, a favor we imagined the couple might craft as they spend a lazy Sunday together, recounting tales true and fable as they sit along the water banks. The invitations were inspired by the “handmade” too – featuring ink from berries in rushed scribbles to elicit the excited, spontaneous mood. The cherry on top was the place cards attached to a cane weave canvas, drawing from the textures and history of the space where they first fell in love.
Her minimalist ring stack from Sofia Kaman catches the light of the moon as charcuterie trays are passed and glasses are clinked across the table. Amidst the artisan feast are hand-crafted tabletop details from Farmhouse Pottery, including the unglazed stoneware edge plates, ash candlesticks and glass-blown tea lights. A natural, wind-bearing linen from MagicLinen was the perfect foundation for this southern harvest.
Can we just take a moment to bask in the beauty of these colors? This southern autumn elopement is perfection from beginning to end!
She begins the day in a silky gown with a barely there shade of whipped apricot from Bella Bridesmaids Columbia . Grounding the palette is the groom in a skinny sage wool blend suit from ASOS, softened by a sprig of fresh blooms from the ceremony arch. As the sun goes down and the air gets brisk, she stretches into a cozy camel wool sweater from & Other Stories for dancing beneath the stars.
Leisure Townie bicycles from Columbia-based Outspokin’ gave our couple a sendoff in style. And every getaway comes with signage, right? A super-sized cloth sheet scribbed with the words “It was just kismet” sat beween the bikes as they were staged alongside the dinner.
We couldn’t be more delighted with how these scenes unfolded, and it’s all thanks to natural chemistry of our models Kelsey and Dylan, along with our A-team of vendors. We hope you enjoy this seasonal wedding inspiration as much as we do!”
Ok, I’ll say it: This southern autumn elopement is GOALS! Since your hearts are already a flutter after that gorgeous wedding inspo, you’re gonna love these 23 butterfly wedding ideas.
