Modern Romantic Wedding with Shades of Gray
Today’s bride describes her wedding day vision as “modern romance,” and we’re pretty sure she nailed that vision to a T. Every bit of Shailee and Kramer’s wedding day is an Instagram dream come true, with its romantic floral arrangements from Thatch Floral, pops of gold and slate grey, and a ceremony space captured by Jenna Bechtholt that quite simply took our breath away.
From the bride, Shailee: For our wedding, I wanted to create a unique, romantic space! I pictured “modern romance.” When I envisioned our day, I saw lots of gold, marble, candlelight, and many full flowers. I aimed for fall jewel tones with accents of dusty blue grey. For us, we wanted a large wedding to feel quaint and warm. We both are extremely family-oriented and we wanted our venue space to capture those relationships!
Our color scheme was pretty broad and eclectic, but it consisted of mainly deep jewel tones. I tend to always lean towards grey and I incorporated my love for various grey shades through my bridesmaid dresses, marble accents (marble place cards and our cake), and tablecloths. We didn’t incorporate any DIY projects outside of one accent on my bouquet. Three of my grandparents have passed away and it was important to me to walk down the aisle with them present. To signify their presence, I made small picture charms that hung from my bouquet. Jenna had a few great shots of the bouquet where you can see these details! For me, this was one of the most special and meaningful touches.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Looking back, I wish I would have focused on the areas that were the most important to us! It is so easy to get caught up in the planning and details and it can easily get out of control! Enjoy the process and plan an event where your guests walk in and can feel your presence through all the details!
