Once you’ve got your self-adhesive toppers in the printer, you’re all set. Clear plastic bags are included with Avery’s toppers, but leave them to the side for now. It’s time to talk about those scrumptious hot chocolate sticks.

This is, hands down, the easiest hot chocolate stick recipe you will find. You can use leftover candy from Valentine’s Day or hit the clearance aisles for these two types of chocolate.

Grind pieces of chocolate in a food processor and add them to a double boiler. We used a deep frying pan with a bit water and a smaller pot to melt the chocolate in. Mix the chocolate until you have a smooth consistency and pour your mixture into a large ziploc bag. You can wait a few minutes to cool a bit so it’s easier to handle, then snip one end to make a piping bag. This will make your life much easier pouring the chocolate into the molds.

If you’re using a silicone mold, we recommend grabbing a cookie sheet to place under your mold – that will make transporting to the fridge easier once the sticks are in place. Place a wood stirrer in the middle of each cube and let it cool in the fridge for a couple of hours. We cut our sticks to size using scissors – the height of our bag toppers were the perfect length for using the hot chocolate sticks in mugs.

We cheated on the marshmallow part and got store-bought ones instead of making them from scratch. They are really sticky if you try cutting them at first, so I recommend adding confectioner’s sugar or corn starch to your cutting board. This will also prevent your marshmallows from sticking together in the favor bags too! To make them into square shapes, I simply cut two opposite ends in straight lines, then in half to decrease the height of them.

Tap the excess of confectioner’s sugar off of the marshmallows and add to your chocolate sticks. You can fit up to two sticks per bag. I found it easiest to insert each stick with the bag laid on the table flat. Self-seal with your hot chocolate stick labels and you’re done!

It took us probably 2 hours from beginning to end, and just 15 minutes of that were prepping. Easy, huh?
