Art Nouveau Elopement At A Historic Bank Wedding Venue
Today’s elopement inspo at a historic bank wedding venue is stirring up all kinds of emotions within us. Joy, wonder, hope, awe… the art nouveau design style captured by Samantha Zenewicz Photography is all sorts of magnificent. And the modern, minimalist couple is equally charming! Olive You Events knew what she was doing when she invited a sleek, silky and goddess-like gown to the party along with petal pink candles, honey velvet linens and ornate, sinuous stationery. The latter feels like it came straight from the pages of a hand-painted gilt manuscript! Ritual Floral Studio brought a sense of softness and motion to the table, juxtaposing elegantly against the Art Deco characteristics of the historic bank wedding venue. From the vault portraits to the fruit-laden table to the wild + unruly floral moments, this art nouveau elopement celebrating diversity and women-owned businesses is as compelling as can be!
From the Planners, Ariana and Alyssa of Olive You Events: Being lovers of Art Nouveau posters and illustrations by artists like Alphonse Mucha, we struggled with the fact that the women depicted never looked like us. It was extremely important for us to include diverse models. We also wanted to partner with diverse vendors and support local small and women-owned businesses.”
When envisioning the bride for this editorial, the tem wanted to capture the essence of beautiful, sensual, diverse women. Model Trin Portillo ticked every box and stunned in her Jenny Yoo Sylvanna dress. Sexy, clean, modern, and the perfect timeless look to highlight the bridal cape. Artfully made by The Lotus Bloom Co., a black, woman owned business in Baltimore, this modern accessory gives that ethereal, romantic element of a veil for the fashion-forward bride. Bridal Glow with Victoria O enhanced Trin’s natural beauty, and added some fun pearls as hair accessories. Colonial Jewelers helped complete the couple’s look with engagement and wedding rings. The model groom, Kyle Thompson, donned a modern tux with a rose jacket from The Black Tux, which was a fun way to pull in the color palette and make a statement.
They envisioned guests would immediately get a taste of the Roaring 20’s meets “twenty-twenties” ambiance from their arrival into Citizens Ballroom. The first impression they were left with after receiving the floral-focused invitation from The Knot would come front and center when entering into the ceremony space to see the floral installation by Ritual Floral Studio. The naturally growing vines, popping through the balustrades and up the columns, lended an organic, wispy and sinuous vibe that was then carried into the reception space, with florals and fruit on the tablescape to bring in the organic elements.
With a bright, white backdrop, the team allowed their warm palette of blush, mauve, tamarind, amber and gold to really shine here. Gold velvet linens from BBJ Latavola made the entire tablescape pop in the room, adding a modern flare and helping to tie in the venue’s gold filigree details. Something Vintage Rentals brought in white plates with gold trim, gold flatware and rose gold champagne coupes to make the sweetest little champagne tower. The cake was simple, yet elegant and artfully made by Cake by Kika, with delicately designed gold floral, almost feathery petals, and beading.
All the details from the day flowed together seamlessly thanks to Olive You Events, and Samantha Zenewicz Photography captured it all to perfection. Ariana and Alyssa said, “We loved working with Samantha as the photographer! She instantly made the models feel comfortable and brought an energetic, playful energy to the shoot. Her romantic, film inspired style of photography is so dreamy and perfect for our vision!
Yes, that is a twinkle in our eyes. You can hardly blame us after witnessing the chemistry of this couple amidst the art nouveau details and modern boheme energy that transformed this historic bank wedding venue (which was built in 1909 btw… over a century old!) If you have a penchant for this design era as much as we do, then follow us to this feature incorporating cattail reeds + violet flowers – signatures of the art nouveau style – next!
