Intimate Gadsden House Wedding with Blue & White Palette
Blue and white decor in weddings has certainly been on the up + up in recent months, and this charming Gadsden House wedding for 50 guests in Charleston is chock full of it! Ava Moore Photography captured these relaxed, blissful hues as they danced across the patterned linens and upholstered dining chairs, but it’s the heart-happy smiles she was able to memorialize for Chloe and Sam that really go our souls smiling. Planned + designed by Amanda Reed Weddings, this intimate wedding married modernism with elegance and proved once and for all that no matter what obstacles might come your way during the planning process, love will always win!
Spring starts early here in Charleston, and fortunately, this sweet couple was able to squeeze in their intimate affair just before the Covid pandemic went into full shutdown mode. Weddings as we knew them may be very different as we move deep into 2020. Everyone is praying that large guest lists will be possible again soon, but for now it might be best for couples to draw inspiration from intimate affairs like this sweet wedding of Chloe & Sam with 50 guests in attendance.
It shows that a smaller guest list can still provide big moments to remember forever! The setting was The Gadsden House, which is truly the perfect setting for both large and small weddings. Because it is the former home of the Gadsden Family, it provides lavish intimacy.
And because of it’s downtown Charleston location, it keeps guests close to all the charm that downtown has to offer. It was an absolute treat to work with Arkansas planner, Amanda Reed Weddings, as she made this dream wedding a reality.
Chloe and Sam love the incorporation of patterns, but balancing them with clean and simple execution. Amanda was able to pull this off seamlessly. The mix of monogrammed blue patterned linens were perfectly blended with blue patterned chairs. This modern vintage feel was perfectly balanced with Chloe’s Simple and Clean gown by Rebecca Shoneveld. The bridesmaid dresses were also a simple and clean black so as not to take away from the patterned design of the surrounding space.
Floral bouquets were also kept to simple and elegant. Other touches incorporated into the day, personalized the design. For example their beloved pup, Maisie, was the star of the bar. Her sweet face was center stage along witih monogrammed napkins and bar stirrers made in her honor. A very touching moment of the day was their first look.
Chloe has a special Bible made for Sam and she presented this to him during their first look. The emotion was high as Sam literally fell apart in happiness at the sight of Chloe and also from the impact of this meaningful gift. It was such a sweet day filled with sweet moments. Having an intimate wedding allows the couple to really spend meaningful time with all their guests. The emotions and love felt here on this day were truly special and it was enhanced by the stunning beauty of their surroundings.
From Chloe’s amazing gown to the luscious linens, monogrammed napkins, and the wedding cake, which was designed using the pattern on Chloe’s dress. The invitation suite was styled with oyster shells and guest favors, which were cookies in the shape of South Carolina. It was all stunning and perfectly executed by Amanda Reed Weddings.
The floral installations from Modern Floral were another fabulous element that made this wedding day incredibly beautiful. They graced the staircase, fireplaces, and wedding alter. It was an absolute delight to witness the love between these two as well as the the love from family and friends who surrounded them.

Well, if it is one good that the pandemic has taught us is that we always don’t need a big fat wedding to make the day special. Small intimate weddings like this allow the guests to spend more valuable time with the couple, and furthermore, if the couple wants to have a wider guest audience, they can set a live stream and get a virtual wedding party going on as well. This will be very effective in social distancing
